Helping Investors Build Long-Term Value

Gaja

Gaja is one of Italy's broadest blue-chip producer names, with collector demand spread across Barbaresco, single-vineyard Langhe wines and Barolo. Giovanni Gaja founded the winery in Barbaresco in 1859, and over four generations the family progressively built vineyard holdings and a reputation for estate-bottled Nebbiolo at a time when Piedmont was still dominated by regional blending and bulk wine across the region.

Vineyards

Gaja's historic base is Barbaresco, where the family built holdings in important sites such as Sorì San Lorenzo, Sorì Tildìn and Costa Russi. The wider group also owns Barolo vineyards and estates in Tuscany, but the Langhe remains the centre of the producer's identity, particularly Nebbiolo from Barbaresco and Serralunga.

Development

Angelo Gaja joined the family business in 1961 and became one of the key figures in modernising the international image of Barbaresco. Single-vineyard bottlings, lower yields and changes in cellar practice helped position Gaja as an Italian luxury-wine reference, while later acquisitions expanded the family into Barolo, Bolgheri and Montalcino.
