Home / Investment / Clarendon Hills
Clarendon Hills is an Australian collector estate built around single-vineyard, old-vine wines rather than a broad regional blend. Roman Bratasiuk founded the estate in 1990 with the aim of bottling individual old-vine sites separately, an approach still uncommon in Australian fine wine at the time. Astralis became the defining wine and helped establish Clarendon Hills internationally through the 1990s and 2000s.

The estate sources from old, dry-grown vineyards around Clarendon and neighbouring parts of McLaren Vale, including Blewitt Springs. Many sites are planted on ancient, geologically complex soils and farmed at low yields. Individual vineyards such as Astralis, Piggott Range, Hickinbotham and Romas are bottled separately.

Roman Bratasiuk founded Clarendon Hills in 1990 with the aim of bottling individual old-vine sites separately, an approach that was still uncommon in Australian fine wine. The project quickly focused attention on the diversity of McLaren Vale's sub-sites rather than treating the region as one uniform source.
Astralis became the estate's defining wine and helped establish Clarendon Hills internationally during the 1990s and 2000s. The producer remained committed to vineyard-designated releases, preserving old vines and maintaining a style built around concentration, site character and low intervention.
