Domaine de la Romanée-Conti sits at the extreme end of fine-wine scarcity. The Romanée-Conti vineyard has medieval roots and took its present name after the Prince de Conti acquired La Romanée in 1760. The modern family story began in 1869 when Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet purchased Romanée-Conti and integrated it into his Burgundy holdings. Its wines come almost entirely from Grand Cru vineyards, often traded bottle by bottle.
DRC farms a small portfolio of exceptional Côte d'Or sites including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échézeaux, Échézeaux, Corton, Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. Romanée-Conti and La Tâche are monopoles, giving the domaine complete control over two of Burgundy's most famous vineyards.
