Inside Eton Park: How Your Wine Is Stored and Protected

Inside Eton Park, see how fine wine is stored, insured and individually tracked, with condition reports and 360-degree photography helping protect provenance and value.

Where and how your wine is stored matters just as much as which wines you choose to hold. For CB Wine clients, that storage takes place at London City Bond’s Eton Park facility in Burton-upon-Trent.

A long-established storage partner

London City Bond has operated since 1870, giving it a long track record in handling fine wine and other high-value goods. LCB is a member of both the UK Warehousing Association and the Road Haulage Association, and holds ISOQAR accreditation, industry markers that reflect established, audited operating standards rather than an informal storage arrangement.

Insurance and protection

Wine held at Eton Park is insured by LCB while in storage, with cover extending to current market value, breakage, corkage, and theft. This is supported by additional cover through Fidentia for wines exceeding LCB’s standard policy maximum. Insurance also extends to wine in transit across the EEA, movement between other LCB sites, and, in certain cases, natural disaster.

Tracking every case

Every case held at Eton Park is logged through LCB’s wine logging system and assigned a unique rotation number, so it can be individually identified and tracked within LCB’s inventory. Alongside the rotation number, each case record captures your reserve information, the wine and vintage, and bottle quantity and format, giving a clear, traceable record of your physical holdings at all times.

Condition reports and provenance

Provenance, meaning a clear, documented history of how a wine has been stored and handled, is fundamental to a fine wine’s long-term value and marketability. CB Wine clients can request detailed condition reports directly from Eton Park at any time. These reports include current photography and condition information covering bottle condition, packaging, and fill levels, including documentation of original wooden cases (OWC) where applicable.

Eton Park has also invested in state-of-the-art 360-degree photography technology, capturing digital footage of stored bottles and cases from every angle. This adds a further layer of assurance around bottle fill levels and strengthens the overall provenance trail available to clients.

A trusted relationship

As LCB’s own Director, Jane Renwick, put it: “LCB are the proud storage and logistic provider to Cult & Boutique.”

For investors, the combination of a century-and-a-half-old storage partner, robust insurance, individual case-level tracking, and on-demand condition reporting is designed to give real confidence that a wine’s provenance, and therefore its value, is properly protected from the moment it enters storage.
